Kia Mau Festival
Kia Mau is a biennial, contemporary Māori, Pasifika & Indigenous arts festival.
Banana Leaf 4 Ltd were fortunate enough to be in discussions with Hone and Miria in 2021 thus providing the opportunity for the first Disability led performances to be included at the Kia Mau Festival. Three disabled artist's were showcased in this performance which took place in the Massey University Wellington Campus.
Lusi Faiva performed a beautiful Samoan Taupou dance, Rodney Bell performed a mesmerising contemporary dance piece accompanied by an able bodied dancer. Pati Umaga performed an original song "Pepeve'a" accompanied by various artists both able bodied and disabled.
